Marion Hänsel started to feel frequently feverish, and her temperature rose every night. After a visit to the doctor, and following several tests, it was discovered she had a microbe (called streptococcus) which caused an infection. She had to undergo emergency heart surgery. The recovery process required a two-month long hospital stay..
And so it was during her recovery that Hänsel developed and directed the film There Was a Little Ship, which we present at the festival as a national premiere.
How to develop an autobiographical film, comprising a lifetime’s worth of memories (and what a life!) into a profoundly poetic filmic exercise? We will be able to discuss this and other questions with Marion Hänsel at her masterclass.
