Honor of the Knights [Honor de Cavalleria] Albert Serra

Albert Serra Retrospective

A loose adaptation of Miguel de Cervante’s “Don Quixote de La Mancha” which eschews conventional narrative structures. A silent journey between contemplation and reflection. Don Quixote and Sancho ride aimlessly in search of adventures. Along the way they discuss spiritual, knightly and practical matters… and deepen their friendship. According to Gimferrer, in Honor of the Knights Albert Serra places Don Quixote and Sancho not in La Mancha, but in the cane fields of Empordà, and the nobleman – who calls himself El Quixote, as if he were the book – is, in real life, a retired tennis teacher who improvises much of his speeches – the film, however, remains completely true to Cervantes.
