A strong mutual attraction develops between the disappeared girl’s friend and boyfriend, and they become lovers. What starts out looking like a crime story ends up being a film about loneliness, incommunicability and abandonment. Landscape in Antonioni is pure literature. Winner of the Jury Prize at the 1960 Cannes Film Festival.
